Nibelungen Festival 2008

Next summer, the seventh Nibelungen Festival takes place from 1 to 17 August 2008 on the North side of Worms cathedral.

The Nibelungen Festival will start on 1 August with ‘Siegfrieds Frauen’, a play telling about the events up to Siegfried’s death. The following evening features Die letzten Tage von Burgund, a suspenseful political thriller about the court of Worms’ destruction. The two productions will alternate daily and will be shown a total of 16 times in the impressive setting of the north portal of Worms Cathedral. Tuesday, 5 August will be the only off-day without a performance.

The public may look forward to a new, well-known cast. At this time, they are working on a new, spectacular stage design for the production of ‘Siegfrieds Frauen’. In 2006, this play was shown in front of the south portal of the cathedral and now will be adapted for staging in front of the cathedral’s north portal. There will also be a new grandstand. For improved seating, larger and more comfortable chairs will be used. Seating capacity per show is a total of 1480. Once again, the Heylshofpark with its charming ambience will cater to the guests; it is know as one of the most beautiful theatre foyers in Germany.
